Hosted a 80th Birthday Celebration at Texas de Brazil for a close friend and his family. We're usually Ruth's Chris patrons for such a momentous achievement but thought this is a perfect opportunity to try something we've always been interested in but didn't have an excuse to try. Located in Ala Moana shopping center - 4th floor near most of the other sit down eateries, Texas de Brazil is very close to Macy's. We arrived early in the dinner hour and were seated close to the Cold Bar and Warm Bar (Table 43) which was perfect for mobility challenge adults. The Cold Bar was impressive from the start. All high end ingredients and selections to start the meal right. Think Tossed, Mac, Shrimp, Anti Pasti all types of salads. There in Poki, Sashimi, Salami, Cheese and many many specialty prepared salads. Could it be that they are hoping you'll fill up on salads and not have room for the Filet Mignon? Could Be! The Warm Bar offers Soups, Grilled Mushrooms, Mashed Potatoes and such. The soup that night was Lobster Bisque and we loved it. (Also can be filling). The mushrooms are a nice complement to the meats. Meats? Well yes, there is meat offered... The theme of Texas de Brazil is centered on 'Gauchos' that orbit the restaurant with squires of meat and stop at your table based on a signal coin or disk by your plate-with green on one side (I want Meat!) or red (keep walking...) Most times the Gauchos will at least pause to announce their offerings. That can be Beef, Pork, Lamb, Chicken, Sausages and for many categories more than one 'cut'. (I.e. Lamb chops, leg of lamb, Lamb loin Etc.) The quantity of meat is up to you, but since there are so many offerings you tend to ask for demitasse servings. If it is good, you will have ample opportunity to get more. Your appetite will wain before they run out of most anything. The service is outstanding. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is party like. We will be back.

Service was impeccable and the manager helped to serve food and brought us refills of ice water. Ambiance was nice and we had an 11 person party so we were given this beautiful solid wood table. The salad bar was good but different than what I'm used to. The fries were served cold but all the meats were good. I especially liked the bacon wrapped steak and the seasoning on the leg of lamb awesome. The bill was over a grand but I'm not complaining as I didn't pay. The servers behind the glass got in on the family photo making the picture even more memorable. The manager personally thanked us before we left making the experience worth it.

Since I accompanied @Rani R. when he got into the YEE here, I get to write a review on the restaurant instead of elite event (but that was a smokin' hot deal, lucky if you got to go!). Texas de Brazil is located in what we think was the former LensCrafters space on the third floor of Ala Moana Shopping Center--Macy's wing. It's a similar concept as the other Brazilian restaurant, where the meats are brought out and served to you from swords skewered with various meats. There was a very extensive "salad" bar, which included tons of items and may be more extensive than the other place (it's hard to be sure, since I haven't been to the other place in over ten years). There's also a condiment bar to provide sauces to enhance the meats. I'm not in the habit of eating AYCE anymore, but I wished I had more room in my stomach to sample more salad bar items and get seconds of the items that others have mentioned that were delicious, such as the lobster bisque. The staff was all very nice, the restaurant is really bright and beautifully decorated. I am taking off one star due to finding some of the meats not very flavorful, too salty and some were tough. Additionally, the servers, while very polite and attentive, wore elaborate "uniforms" and unfortunately, some of them smelled as if their uniforms were not clean--that wet laundry/dishtowel smell was off-putting. We were at the first seating of the day, so this should not have been the case. Nonetheless, it was a fun experience, and I wish TdB all the best!

Reservations were made easy via Open Table. The restaurant is gigantic with many tables and sections, including private and semi-private rooms. The walls are deep red with chic tables to complete the ambiance. We were provided with excellent customer service. Our main server was Kuulei. We had many servers, which included the gauchos (servers that came around to carve churrascaria style meat). There are little coaster-like cards, one with a green side, and one with a red. The green side will let the servers know you would like meat, and the red side tells them that you need a break, or need to tap out. However, when I set mine to red, the servers came around anyway to ask if I wanted to try a meat. Many meats are made picanha style and there are over 12 different meats available served medium rare. If you prefer a different temperature, all you have to do is ask. My favorite was the braised beef ribs that were fall-off-the-bone moist, and rich and flavorful. Other favorites were the leg of lamb and filet minion. The only disappointment for me was the chicken. I tried two kinds: the bacon wrapped chicken and the parmesan drumettes. Both were dry. I expected as much, since chicken dries out pretty quickly, but was hopeful, especially when I thought the bacon would be its saving grace, but the chicken was really dry. Next time, I'll pass on the bird. Each meal comes with 4 refillable sides for the table. They include mashed potatoes, fries, sweet plantains, and Pao de Queijo (Brazilian cheese bread). They also have a buffet area where you can help yourself to soup, salad, and charcuterie type items like salami and cheese. The night we went, they were serving Lobster Bisque which was good, but my bowl was taken away prematurely and I opted not to get a second bowl because I was quickly filling up on the meat. I tried their signature cocktail, Caipirinha. It consists of cachaça, lime, and sugar. If you like mojitos, this drink is for you. Tastes very similar, but lest minty. I think all you can eat meal is well worth the $70/person if you love meat. Desserts are priced pretty straight-forward at $12.95/dish, but the flavors were anything but. We tried the Brazilian flan, pecan pie, key lime pie, creme brulee, chocolate mousse cake, and bananas fosters pie. Most of them were very rich. I enjoyed the key lime pie the most. Not too sweet, and not too tart, and very near perfection. Obrigado, Texas de Brazil Honolulu! We'll be back soon.
